Jerry,
Detailed out, the first time dsmc is launched w/NWPWFILE YES the NWUSER and
password must be input to continue, this creates the encrypted file. Any
subsequent load after that, the only prompt is the ADSM password for the node
that has been defined to the ADSM server, either by the admin or by the client
(and does require periodic change if defined in the ADSM server rules), the
nwuser and password are sourced from the encrypted file. If dsmc is loaded w/o
the -password=xxxxx string, user input is required to continue. An added note
is that if the password for the NWUSER account that the client runs under is
changed, the encrypted username/password combination will not suceed in logging
in via the TSA. If periodic password changes to the ADSM netware account is
enforced, an additional admin function is required to complete the process by
having the administrator load dsmc after the netware password change and
re-input the nwuser and password which will create a new encry
pted file. We generally deleted an
d purge the retiring encrypted file prior to rconsole to load and change
passwords, the saves the 'corrupt' error message from bopping to screen.. We
use the NWPWFILE YES on all our servers (3.12 and 4.11, v2 and v3 clients) and
have not encountered any problems over the past year.
Thanks!!
