IBM made an official announcement on October 7, 1997 of the coming withdrawal
of AIX V2. and its available
replacement  ADSM V3.1.  Excerpts from the announcement:

    Effective January 7, 1998, IBM is withdrawing the following product from
marketing:

                                                    Feature    Part
    Program Name                      Order Type    Number     Number
    ------------------------------    ----------    -------    -------
    ADSTAR Distributed Storage
    Manager for AIX, Version 2.1       5801-AAR      1968      84H5710

Version 2.1, previously stated in Software Announcement 296-402 to end
on December 31, 1997, will be extended to June 30, 1998.
Refer to the ADDITIONAL INFORMATION section for the list of features for
ADSM for AIX Version 2.1 (84H5710) that will remain available.  Service
for these features will no longer be available after the service end
date of June 30, 1998.

1 1.4.1.1.2  FIELD SUPPORT:  Installation and technical support provided
1 through HONE ASKQ for this program will be withdrawn by June 30, 1998.
1 The ASKQ library of answered questions and other technical information
1 for the program remains available.

Am I the only one out there that is not aware that IBM is not supporting
Version 2 of ADSM anymore......I must be going crazy -- This went right by
me....

Must be nice to work for a company that just turns support off when 'they' feel
it is necessary......
