I understand your complaint.  However, we have found a way around the
problem:

In our commands:  LOAD SYS:ADSM\DSMC Q BACKUP -DIRSONLY -SCROLLP=YES
Server_Name\Volume_Name: <Enter>
*This will give you a list of all directories within that volume with
the eight letters.  Take the one you want and add it to the previous
command.  
         LOAD SYS:ADSM\DSMC Q BACKUP -DIRSONLY -SCROLLP=YES
Server_Name\Volume_Name:DIRECTOR *This will then give you all of the
directories within that directory, add that name to the previous
command, and so on.......

Hope this helps you in finding the names!
