Heard of DG Unix, well yes I've heard of it. As to Universe I have used ADSM
with both UniData and UniVerse. UniData is awful since it has no logging and no
on-line backup. UniVerse apparantly has logging and an on-line backup command,
unfortunately my customers don't use logging.

You can either do a split-mirror backup or use ADSMPIPE. Even with the new
functions in AIX 4.3.1 to support split-mirror backup you should still
effectively stop work and force the database to write any buffers to disk before
splitting the mirrors.
