I had similar problems recently and found it to be the backup of the client
registry. ADSM does not backup the registry to the default managment
class. It scans for the management class with the longest retention, in my
server, that is the direct to tape management class. There is a client
option for directing the registry to a management class ( I think DIRMC) but
I could not get it to work, so as a temp workaround was to drop the
retention in my direct to tape management class to 1 day less than my
default management class. That eliminated the tape mount for all of my
client backups. Hope this works for you.
