No.  The way you described is real easy.  Over time, the problem fixes
itself.  The only reason I would do something different would be if I had
data with very long retention periods.  Even then, I'd really think hard
about due to the amount of work.

I'd say "Don't worry about it, isn't live complicated enough as it is?"
