New V31-0.3 client for SCO - Install under Linux?
1998-03-30 09:42:03
Hi,
Some time ago I installed the ADSM-Client one a bunch of our Linux
machines; at that time it was a V2.x client. For this purpose I used
the IBCS emulation to make Linux capable of working with SCO
binaries. Then I installed the ADSM-Client that IBM provides for SCO
which came in three .tar-files.
So far everything went OK.
Now the new ADSM-client, Version 3, Release 1, Level: 0.3 PTF 3, got
released. This new version now comes as a single tar-file that, when
running "tar xf" against it results in the following:

The resulting README tells me to install the client like this:
The resulting README tells me to install the client like this:
Run "custom" to install ADSM:
a) logon as root. Type in:
custom
b) select <Software>
c) select <Install New...>
d) select <From "your machine">
e) select Media Images
f) enter the path where the images reside.
(on the ADSM client CD this is /cdrom/adsmcli/sco)
g) select <Full Installation>
This "custom" seems to be an install utitility runnign under
SCO. However there's nothing like "custom" on my Linux system.
A "file" done for these files shows this:
VOL.000.000: ASCII cpio archive (pre-SVR4 or odc)
VOL.000.000.files: ASCII text
VOL.000.000.sum: ASCII text
VOL.000.001: ASCII cpio archive (pre-SVR4 or odc)
VOL.000.001.files: ASCII text
VOL.000.001.sum: ASCII text
VOL.000.002: ASCII cpio archive (pre-SVR4 or odc)
VOL.000.002.files: ASCII text
VOL.000.002.sum: ASCII text
VOL.000.003: ASCII cpio archive (pre-SVR4 or odc)
VOL.000.003.files: ASCII text
VOL.000.003.sum: ASCII text
Does anybody know
1) If there is a "custom" available for Linux and where I can get hold
of it?
2) How I can install the new client without the "custom" program?
Thanks much in advance for any clue,
-ewald
