I got the following error message for a tape that had been used many
times before for a restore:
ANR8302E I/O error in drive TAPE0 (MT4.0.0.0) (OP=LOCATE, CC=205,
KEY=FF, ASC=FF, ASCQ=FF, SENSE=**NONE**, Description=SCSI adapter
failure). Refer to Appendix B in the 'Messages' manual for recommended
action.
Based on the recommendation in Messages, I checked the cables and SCSI
adapters and all these checked OK. I did an audit on the tape in
question and there were 0 damaged files. This problem happened to
another tape about two weeks (doing the same restore process) and I had
to mark that tape unavailable. Now that it has happened again to
another tape from the same library, I'm really concerned as I still have
a bunch of similar restores to do. Has anyone seen this error before?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
