Little known fact as it turns out is that the volhist and the
devconfig
actually get updated whenever anything happens to volumes or to the
device
config info.  So, you really don't need to back them up, unless you
are
using the file= qualifier to send them to someplace other than the
files
pointed to by volumehistory and devconfig in the options file.

In the case outlined, the floppy can be in the drive before the db
backup
starts and everything works out fine.
