The manual from IBM's International Technical Support Organization group
entitled "ADSM Client Disaster Recovery: Bare Metal Restore" provides a
thorough description of not only the NT client platform, but OS/2, DOS,
Windows 3.1, WIN95, Novell, and AIX clients, for questions such as these.

If you're looking for something quick, the step-by-step you described will
get you where you want to go --- just make certain you have all of your
install diskettes (or CD-ROM) for both the OS and the ADSM client. It's
also a good idea to have a copy of your favorite NT-based DSM.OPT file on
diskette as well because you don't have to "remember" what options you had
picked (very handy when it's been a while since you've really had to tune
those parameters). You can either overlay the standard OPT file when the
client installs, or (better yet) rename the standard file, and use the one
from diskette with the DSM.OPT name. (Of course, the assumption with the
diskette concept is that your communications info hasn't changed, and the
reason you're having to reload an entire node is not a disaster type
situation.)

Hello, I know that it's a silly question but I have doubts about it...I
want to know the procedure to restore an NT client (and if it varies from
platform to platform). Do I have to install the O.S. and customize the
TCP/IP, then install the ADSM software and customize the DSM.OPT file, and
finally perform an entire restore or what ?
Thanks for the help, Oscar Omar Ortega
