We are considering a migration from ADSM/VM (V2R1) to ADSM/MVS (V3R1). Our
environment consists of 2 ADSM servers on the VM platform, utilizing 3390 DASD
for database, recovery log, and staging storage. All data eventually ends up
on 3490 tapes, which are known to both the VM and MVS systems (via a shared
tape management catalog).

One of our concerns (actually, what we are trying to get out of) is
whether or not we can migrate from the VM version to the MVS version without
having to re-write all of the data stored on the tapes. Since the ADSM tapes
are known to both systems, we were hoping that we could export the necessary
portion of the ADSM/VM servers and import them into the ADSM/MVS servers
without having to re-write all of the tape data. Is it possible to
export/import the ADSM database without the tape data and still have
everything be known to the ADSM/MVS V3R1 servers, provided tape labels and
tape management remain the same?

Thanks...
