Another option, if you have a copy storage pool, is to issue a RESTORE
VOLUME.
ADSM will reload the data to another volume in your primary pool by
reading it from your copy pool volumes, and then mark the old tape as
DESTROYED for you.

That may or may not be convenient for you, depending on whether you
store your copy pool volumes down the hall or in another county!  It
also takes longer than a MOVE DATA.

What I usually do is run the MOVE DATA, and let ADSM move as much of the
data off the volume as possible.
If there is any data that can't be moved due to the bad spot on the
tape, then I use  RESTORE VOLUME to get the rest.

        Those are your two options.  Issue 'move data vsn', and then
replace the
        tape.  The other option would risk the tape being used in
reclaimation,
        becoming scratch, and being used again before being replaced.
