Hi,

we backed up over token ring (16 Mb/s) with a performance of 3 GB/h, which
is quit good. My problem is, that the
backup of the ADSM server itself needs too much time. We used the localhost
address in the dsm.sys file as
tcpserveraddress file for increasing performance. But we get only 5 GB/h.
This way of backing up does not
depend on the network, does ist?

Do you have an idea what could be a reason for this bad performance?

Thanks in advance,

               Michael.

It depends on the type of network you are running on.
We are currently using ATM here at our site and with
AIX 4.1.4
ADSM server 2.1.5.13
We are getting 5 to 6 MB per second.
This also depends on the type of files you are backing up.
Large/ Small???
You may need to change some of your network settings on your OS.
On a 10 Base T network you will only get around 2 GB per hour.
