Be aware of one subtle difference between Archive and backup - Archive does
NOT backup empty directories.  Since some programs expect an empty directory
to be there, this may be a problem.....

I have done a bare metal restore using the regular backup tapes - check the
chapter in the bare metal restore red book.

Hi all,

     We are preparing/piloting backing up Novell servers through
incremental backups Monday-Friday,
in conjunction with monthly archives which will be sent offsite for
disaster recovery purposes.  Does anyone
have any experience restoring a complete Novell server from an archive?
Any gotcha's?

     BTW, our backup server is MVS V2R1L.13.
