Hi Mike!
I also see some extremely high CPU usage for my MVS server every now and then.
In most cases the server is running the reclamation process. Check the ADSM 
started task's log, this shows you more details.
However, users can also cause a high CPU usage, for instance if they issue the 
following command: show volumeusage * *
