Thanks for the suggestion; we have only one DSM.OPT file on our system,
installed (by default) under C:\ADSM (on the server side).  We don't even
have these directories on our system!  Is there something I'm missing?

Make sure you have the correct nodename and password fields in the DSM.OPT
file that the API code is using.  I don't know for sure, but that file may
be in the API directory or in the directory where the Notes backup code is
loaded.  You could search for DSM.OPT files on the whole system.  You
should have one in the directories: SACLIENT and BACLIENT.  If you find
another one, that might be it!
