I'd had similar problems on an NT 3.51 Notes server (is there a pattern??)
and found things worked best if Notes was down. I also had InstallShield
die and that was tracked to multiple versions of UNINST.EXE; in my case,
there was an invalid one sitting in C:\WINNT35. Try dropping any / all
versions of UNINST.EXE from that machine (of if you feel like being safer
rename them to UNINST.OLD) and see what happens when you try the Install
once again.
