Mike, I'm not sure what you mean by "or start from scratch". Do you mean create
a new disk pool?

You can either add disk volumes to your existing pool, or create a new pool.
Unless you have special processing requirements that dictate a separate pool,
I'd say keep it simple, and just add space to your existing disk pool. To do
this:

1) Use IDCAMS to allocate new linear VSAM data sets that will act as the new
disk volumes.

2) Run the ANRFMT utility against the new LDSes to format them.

3) Use the ADSM admin client to define the formatted volumes to your disk pool.

Hope this helps,

Subject: Adding STG POOL volumes

We've just added a 56GB AIX client that will be backed up by an MVS
server. I need to increase the size of the 'disk' primary storage pool
on the MVS server. Can I just define another disk volume into the same
storage pool, or start from scratch.
