Greetings. Hope someone can help on this. My current
config :

HP Netserver P100, 96MB RAM, 6GB storage (75% or so used)
Intranetware 4.11 + Service Pack 2
DSMC client V2R1, level 0.7 200 users, usually 150 logged in.
Also running : Mercury 1.30, Netshield 2.33, and Discport
5.31A with 5 CDs being shared. Appletalk print+file
sharing.

* I can never seem to get a full backup. At various
times (can be anywhere from 45 mins to several hours)
the ADSM client will lose TCP/IP connectivity from the
host. Eventually ALL connectivity is lost, and I have to
reboot the server.

* Once a significant amount of data has been backed up,
the incrementals work fine.

* The schedule has been rotated from its normal midnight
starting time to mid-evening, when no other events are
occuring. (as well as other times and on the weekends)
No effect.

* At first, I was getting LOTS of ATPS errors with no
ECBs available. I found a post about this on
support.novell.com. I deleted and recreated the queues,
and the ATPS errors went away.

* The Discport seems to dismount the volumes just before
going down. I unloaded the Discport software before the
backup started, no effect.

* I also excluded the DISCPORT.CD directory and all of
the print queue directories. (they were getting access
denied in the ADSM logs)

I'm pretty much baffled at this point. Other smaller
servers seem to back up properly. I'm suspecting low RAM
right now the Long Term cache hits is at 96% - the
server has been up for about one day. although it
usually climbs back up to 98-99% after a while. Cache
buffers is typically at 67-71%.

I'm hoping either someone has a solution, equally
frustrating situation, or simply a success report.
Any info or advice would be appreciated.
