We have a VM V1 Release 1 level 0.14 server. During our noon-time
backup schedule today, the 1st two connecting clients caused output
tape mounts instead of the expected backup to disk. A quick Q STG
showed

Storage Device Estimated %Util %Migr High Low
Pool Name Class Name Capacity Mig% Mig%
                                     (MB)
----------- ---------- ---------- ----- ----- ---- ----
BACKUPPOOL DISK 1,053.6 100.0 76.2 85 10
BACKUPPOOL DISK 1,053.6 100.0 76.2 85 10

Note that this STG is CACHE=NO!

Continuing ... tapes were mounted for those two clients, then several other
clients connected and were backed up to this STG! A Q STG then showed

Storage Device Estimated %Util %Migr High Low
Pool Name Class Name Capacity Mig% Mig%
                                     (MB)
----------- ---------- ---------- ----- ----- ---- ----
BACKUPPOOL DISK 1,053.6 81.3 81.3 85 10
BACKUPPOOL DISK 1,053.6 81.3 81.3 85 10

... an expected or "normal" result.

During this time, the server showed no processes active, nor does the ACTLOG
show anything other than the backup sessions (no sessions were active when all
this started).

A later AUDIT VOL on this disk pool showed no probems.

The only "strange" activity on this storage pool might be a prior MOVE DATA
from a tape that had been overwritten with non-ADSM junk (stopped after
several error messages) ... and a later AUDIT VOL on that same tape ... that
I canceled after a few minutes.

I suspect the self-terminating MOVE DATA left the disk stg pool in the strange
state. Anyone see anything like this?

cheers,
