James,

In the ADSM DR Teleconference IBM gave last week, one of the topics was
ADSM futures. One the future goals IBM has is to have a bootable disk set
for each client to do what you (and I) desire. No date was mentioned.
There are already OS/2 boot disks available on the FTP site in the
unsupported directory.

I saw a very interesting product on the site WWW.NTINTERNALS.COM last week.
This product allows you to boot a NT machine from a diskette and then
connect that machine via a serial cable to another machine. This second
machine can access all of the original machine's hard drives. I am playing
with the idea of testing a procedure where a "bare metal" machine is booted
from this diskette and then a minimal operating system and adsm is copied
over from a second machine. Obviously, from that point on a full restore of
the failed machine would be initiated. I would appreciate all the NT
experienced forum members to let me know what they think of this
possibility. There is also a product on that web site that shows exactly
how insecure NT's security is.

Good Luck,

Dan T.
