It might be less expensive to keep the MVS server dormant for a week or two
while you have your ADSM clients do new, fresh backups to the AIX version.
Just make sure every client is notified to perform a backup to the AIX
version as soon as possible. When every one has backed up to your version
limit, and you've checked on each Archive (do an Export/Import on each entry
the users still need), then you can scratch your MVS server and all its
tapes.

Manfred,
You'll need to use the EXPORT/IMPORT utilities to do this. AIX has
no
problem reading a 3490 tape created with the ADSM export utility on MVS
(don't know about VM although I imagine that would work fine also).
Unfortunately, you can't just take an ADSM db backup from MVS and
restore it to AIX.
