Yes, 'x' starts from the day the file was made inactive. Thus if you back up a
file on January 16th, 1996, then again on September 1st, 1996, the version
created on January 16th will be retained for 15 days beyond September 1st, 1996
-- that is, it will be retained until September 16th, 1996.

The Data Retention Period says Retain inactive backup versions for x
days (2 settings - one for if file still exists and one for if file is
deleted)
Can someone please confirm when the x days starts from. Is it x days
from the date the file was made inactive?
