I've been known to be wrong also, but more likely, I would think this is
perhaps a difference between AIX and MVS, where my server runs. After I got
your note I checked my manuals again, and of course the documentation does not
say what the default is. I then went and looked at the comments I put in my
server options file, and I had written something like "change to let the erver
expire once a day." The value is now of course 00, which if my memory serves,
was set when we went to version 2. Prior to that, I believe the number was
24, as we went through the gyrations I mentioned in the original note.

Using 1 as a default for this option is not the best idea I ever heard of, so
perhaps AIX was set up with a default of 24. The important thing, though is
to understand what happens with the expire inventory process, the expinterval
command, and then adjust it based on your own environment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I thing default is EXPInterval 24. That's the
parameter I found in all the sample dsmserv.opt files so far.
