Another les elegant solution - would your customer accept an Archive that
was run very early on the first of the month (say 12:01?). Perhaps this
would be more predictable.

IBM -

This sounds like another good requirement - actually two, I think. I think
what Trevor is asking for is the "Last Working Day" of the month, which is
not necessarily the same as "the last day of the month". Both are valid
requests. I can't think of many who would think that January 28 is
acceptable as the last day in either case.

Hi,

I am trying to set up a scheduled archive job that runs on the last weekday
of the month, and I am not having a lot of success.

If I define a schedule with a start date of 01/31/1997, with a 'period
between startup windows' of 1 month, I get the following results:

Scheduled date Last week day of month

02/28/1997 02/28/1997
03/28/1997 03/31/1997
04/28/1997 04/30/1997
05/28/1997 05/30/1997
06/30/1997 06/30/1997
07/28/1997 07/31/1997
08/28/1997 08/29/1997
09/29/1997 09/30/1997
10/28/1997 10/31/1997
11/28/1997 11/28/1997
12/29/1997 12/31/1997

Obviously ADSM will always schedule the event for one month after the
previous archive, unless that day is not a weekday, in which case the job
will be moved to the next weekday, which could even be in the following
month. Is ADSM doing the wrong by scheduling 1 month after the previous
archive, rather than on the same day of the month as defined by the start
date?

Any suggestions on how to do this. I have come up with 2 possibilities,
neither of which are particularly clean. The first involves having a job
run on the 1st of every month, which then calculates the date of the last
working day of the month, and then updates the ADSM schedule to start on
that date. The second is to define a separate job for every month for some
number of years. The second one would be quick, but also pretty ugly.
