FILE device class on MVS and for migration

Was the FILE device class a new feature of ADSM/MVS Version 2 or
has it been introduced with any PTF level for version 1 ?

Is it true that the FILE device class cannot be used to export/import
ADSM data from an MVS server to an AIX server ?
I have migrated from an OS/2 to an AIX Server using the
FILE device class without running into problems. And this should
not work between MVS and AIX ?
