I ran into the same thing months ago and reported a bug to IBM.  I believe
that it is fixed at level 2.1.07 (ptf un87800).  If you aren't there yet,
get the ptf and install it.  If you are there, you have a new bug and
should report it.

Subject: ADSM MVS Abend 0c4 when cancelling process

Hello ADSM'ers,
 We're running the ADSM V2 server on MVS and I am implementing the copy
storage pool feature. I have just started to backup up my tape pool to the
copy pool by issuing the 'backup stg tapepool copypool' command. I start
the
process during the a.m. and cancel the process in the afternoon so as not
to interfere with the nightly scheduled backups and not tie up tape drives
which are in demand in the evening. After cancelling the process the ADSM
started task abends with a s0c4 - reason 11. Should I not cancel this
process? Is there gentler way to stop this process?
