NetWare and other questions

1 - ADSM will not reset the archive bit after making a backup of a
file. I believe in the case of the NetWare client ONLY the changing
of the archive bit will case ADSM to back-up the file because ADSM
only checks if the flags attribute has changed but does not
evaluate the individual bits in this flags field. Someone please
correct me if I am wrong on this.
2 - For a command line backup you can try
load dsmc i -pas=password (CLIB_OPT)/>sys:backup.out
Sorry, at this time there is no way to get that information for
all clients from the server. If you want to see what is backed up
you can try
load dsmc q backup turin/sys:* -pas=password (CLIB_OPT)/>sys:files.out
for each of the volumes.
3 - Both the dsmsched.log and dsmerror.log will grow until your volume
runs out of space. Automatic pruning is performed with the
SCHEDLOGRETENTION and ERRORLOGRETENTION options in the client
options file. One warning if you keep these files big and the
volume they reside on is small you need enough space for two
copies of the file on the volume for pruning to work.
4 - The DSMACCT.LOG is the server accounting log file. This does not
apply to your MVS server. If you want accounting records for the
client sessions you will need to
1 - SET ACCOUNTING ON
2 - Make sure you have SMF running and gathering record type 42
subtype 14.
Hope this helps - David Bohm, ADSM technical support
