Hi,
I hope someone can shed some light on my problem. I am failry new to
the ADSM world and, in order to increase my confidence in ADSM, I was
restoring some volumes from a production NW server to a test server.
Both are Netware 4.1 with the DSMC.NLM being Version 2.01 Revision 3
dated 02/29/96.
Two small volumes (400mb, 1.2gb) restored fine using the following
command at the DSMC> prompt:
RES -SU=YES -FROMNODE=prod.server prod/vol:\*.* test/vol:\ -VERBOSE
A third volume (6.8gb) would get about half way through examining
files and then run out of memory on the NW server. There are about 225,000
files to go through and between 120,000 & 160,000 (it varies) DSMC
would run out of memory and ask you to free some. I won't send all of
the details unless someone is interrested. I saw a note on the list a
while back that said 1mb of memory is needed for every 8,000 files
for a restore. Is that correct? There is about 60mb of free Cache buffers
when I start the restore and there's some real strange fluctuations
between used and free cache buffers at various times of the process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
