I am implementing disaster recovery with ADSM V2 for MVS and DFSMSrmm for
managing tapes. So I have to define a new "devclass"(ADSM) with another
high-level-qualifier for tape datasets and a vital record
specification(DFSMSrmm) for those tape datasets.
That's not too difficult, but that's not the whole story. When a tape is to be
moved offsite, DFSMSrmm manages this for me, but it doesn't tell ADSM anything
about it. I have to change the location for all volumes in ADSM MANUALLY (or I
ask rmm via rexx, build a jobstream for ADSM and submit it).
The next problem is to make synchronized backups from storagepools and the
database. I prefer to back up the stgpool first and when this has finished, I
want to back up the database. But how? When I use a macro, ADSM starts backing
up the stgpool and after that, he starts backing up the database, while backing
up stgpool is still running. I have to define two independent schedules with a
little time(1-3h?) between.
If anyone has better solutions, please tell me.
