  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

** ADSM is now accelerated on Power Macintosh! **

The ADSM Macintosh client (for both PPC and 68K) is now available
on index.storsys.ibm.com. Download the file mac.v2r1m3.IP20648.hqx
  from the /adsm/fixes/v2r1/mac directory.

  ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

An incompatability has been found when running any version of the ADSM Mac
client with Open Transport 1.1, as provided by Apple in System 7.5.3.

  Problem
  -------
An initial connection can be made to the ADSM server, and backup or restores
can be performed. However, if the user cancels the backup/restore, or if the
connection to the server must be re-established, then the client cannot
reconnect to the server. A TCP/IP error will occur.

This also effects the ADSM Scheduler, as it starts/stops several connections
  to the server.

  Solution
  --------
We are working with Apple to find a solution to this problem. Currently
it seems to be a problem with Open Transport itself. In the meantime,
you should run classic MacTCP on Macs running System 7.5.3. Use the
Network Software Selector, installed in the Apple Extras folder on your
system drive, to select between Open Transport and MacTCP networking.

The problem does not effect other parts of the system. To clear up the
problem, simply close the application and restart it. You do not need to
  restart the system.

For PCI Macs, that can only run Open Transport: you can still run the
ADSM Backup program in a limited fashion. Canceling an operation,
or changing your password, will cause the connection to fail. Simply
colse the application and restart it to clear up the problem.
You will not be able to run the ADSM Scheduler. Until this problem
can be resolved, you will need to issue the backup by hand.
