Hallo Herr Floeter,
there is an API from SAP R/3 SAPDBA BRBackup and BRArchive commands
written by IBM (Boeblingen). It is called BACKINT. We use it
succesfully with up to 11 parallel sessions on a HP-UX machine.
Contact address:
Dr. Renger, Tel (in Germany): 07031 16 2192
Internet address: hjrenger AT vnet.ibm DOT com
or contact the Backint Hotline:
Good luck,

SUBJECT: Keep 4 drives streaming in parallel from one client
We plan to establish a central backup service, where we control all
the backups of the clients from one central point, respectively the
backup server. Currently we have the problem that we want to save
the datasets of a large client, i.e. an SAP/R3 database server
approximately 30GB, were we have the bandwith on the network with
FDDI but only a Exabyte EXB-480 jukebox which has 4 tape drives,
capable of 0.5-1MB/sec. So we consider to transfer the data in
parallel to all four tape drives (possible with a small disk
storage pool for data caching).
How should we do it? We considered using several schedule processes
on the client side, but we are uncertain how to control the whole
thing.
Thanks for any help
