First of all, Novell no longer supports Netware 3.11, so the TCP188 fix is the
last TCP/IP maintenance for that release, as I understand it. I have seen
people who applied the TCP31A fix to 3.11. The TCPIP NLM seems to be ok -
although I believe it shows up as 3.12, if I remember right. HOWEVER, the
TCPCON NLM, which also comes in the maintenance fix, will NOT work on 3.12.

I would not recommend using the maintenance on a 3.11 server because of the
mismatch and the fact that it wasn't designed for this release. The
maintenance does work well, in my experience on a 3.12 server.

I'm not a NetWare person, so forgive my ignorance on this question.

I notice that IBM now distributes the TCP31A patch with the ADSM 2.1.0.2
client (along with 2 other patches). Reading the TCP31A.TXT file that comes
along with this patch, it seems to be saying that this patch only applies
to NetWare 3.12.

The previous patch that IBM recommended was TCP188.EXE. This patch seemed
to be applicable to 3.11 as well as 3.12. Does anyone know if TCP31A
supercedes TCP188, and if it can be used on NetWare 3.11 as well as 3.12?

Also, what about NetWare v4.xx servers? Do any TCPIP patches need to be
applied to 4.xx servers?

Thanks in advance for any help.

The installation instructions for NetWare are scattered between the new
"installing the clients" guide and the "readme" file. I understand
that the "readme" file contains late-breaking information, but these
instructions are confusing to the novice NetWare administrator. If there
is any way to clarify these instructions, I would recommend that it be
done.
