Having served on two OCO Task Forces at GUIDE, I can report that in both of
the groups, we hammered hard on the requirement for better documentation. Is
it better than it was? YES. Is it as Good as it Needs to be? NO!

I have been reading with interest the discussion about REDBOOKS
and ADSM on the ADSM-L list.

Cyndie has been trying to defend an existing situation that should
not exist.

It seems to me that the existence (and demand) for REDBOOKS should
tell IBM that current documentation is insufficient. If REDBOOKS
are needed to get the job done, why should they be charged for
any more than other ADSM base docs?

When IBM decided to drag us into this OCO world, they did NOT
step up to the drastically increased need for better documentation.
The base docs for ADSM/6000 are just barely adequate to install
the product. They certainly don't tell you how to exploit its
rich functionality. If your interested in quality, the documentation
must also reflect that quality. (READ: IBM needs to spend a lot
more money on documentation!)

Enough of my soapboxing.
