Dear ADSM managers,

We're almost ready to order the ADSM product for backup of our
workstation network (including an SP2). I read mails to this list
referring to a "disk pool", and this worries me:

We don't want to allocate any "disk pool" whatsoever for backup
purposes (except for the records of what's on tape). We want the
network disks to be copied directly to tape (and back again when
restoring files) without any intermediate stage requiring disk
storage.

Question: Does ADSM allow configuration in this way ? Will I gain
significant functionality from enabling a "disk pool" ?

I could of course go for the Legato Networker solution, which doesn't
require intermediate storage.

Any comments ? This could be most helpful for our future backup
strategy.
