We use the operator functions of HMF to relay important messages such as
this to the operators (with lots of stars around them) or to initiate an
action to resolve the problem.  PROP is an inexpensive alternative (part of
CMS).  You also might want to look into how often you are running an
expiration, or adding space to your database.  IMHO, you shouldn't be
running out of DB space so often.
