How Can I Be Out of Space?

I set aside 3 1GB drives on VM. The original migration levels were 70%
(lo) and 90% (hi). Yesterday, my boss wants to backup his Mac and it
asks him if he wants to wait. He says yes, and it times out. He did it
again today and this is what I got from watching:
Date/Time Message

I thought I had a problem with my tape mount exit, so I increased the
migration limits. I increased the lo mig to 90% and the hi to 95% and
it still happens. He's only got 300MB at most to back up. Would some
kind soul point me to a page or something? Thanks.
