For anyone in the ADSM community:

Does ADSM provide support for raw logical volumes under AIX? We're
bringing online an Oracle v7 parallel server system running on top of
HA-CMP v2.1 and utilizing concurrent access w/ IBM's 9333 high speed
serial disks.

We have been through many iterations of vendor-provided suggestions as to
how we will back this system up. Unfortunately, the issue is clouded by
misinformation, which I'm trying to cut through. It appears from IBM's
ADSM web pages that the product quite clearly does not support raw
partitions; however, there seems to be a few people out there (sales,
perhaps? ;-) telling our management that ADSM is a viable solution.

So, if anyone has any experience in this area, please contact me with
your feedback and information. Along the same lines, anyone familiar
with managing raw partitions with other products (such as Legatto's
Networker, etc), that information would also be most helpful.

Thanks in advance,
