The parameters are documented in the README file. It is looking for a
DEVCLASS=devclass parameter and an optional VOLNAMES=volname parameter.

And yes, you will need to define your devclass using the DUMPLOADDB
option in the server options file. (Also need library and drive
definitions if you are running on an OS/2 or AIX server). You can also
find the syntax for DUMPLOADDB in the README file. Briefly, it is just
like a DEFINE DEVCLASS command, except that you put it in the options
file. Just substitute the "DEFINE" with "DUMPLOADDB". Note: In
Version 2, this DUMPLOADDB option goes away because ADSM will
automatically maintain a device configuration file that includes the
definitions needed to restore a database.

dsmserv dumpdb is meant to be a "last resort" salvage utility. If you
just want to take a database dump, and your database is still good, the
way to do this is with the online DUMP DB admin command with the
CONSISTENT=YES parameter. This will avoid the lengthy AUDITDB step
after you load the database.
