Wayne,

I wondered about the tapes myself. How does ADSM track the occupancy of
the tapes, through the database? I know that some information gets
written to each tape. What happens when that doesn't match the database?

At some point, we are going to decide whether or not to continue with the
audit. Its killing our system, and classes are resuming tomorrow. We can't
afford to keep it running much longer. Our next alternative (as far as I
can see) is to start over, with a clean database. Since we control all the
clients of ADSM, we will simply back up all the machines again and take
our losses. We pretty much have to do that anyway.

The question is, then, can we reuse the tapes that already have data on them?
Would deleting the volumes from the server and re-defining them be enough to
allow us to reuse them? Or will we have to "physically" scratch them, ie.
write over the labels or something?
