ABSTRACT

ADSM does not keep all volumes on line if more than 16 volumes
are defined for the database and recovery logs.

DETAIL

For OS/2 and RS/6000 Servers:

When defining more than 16 volumes for the database and recovery
log in the ADSM Server, all volumes can be varied online and
synchronized, but when the server is re-started, only the first
16 volumes vary on-line automatically. The remaining volumes
must be varied online manually with the ADSM VARY ON command.

For MVS and VM Servers:

When defining more than 16 volumes for the database and/or
recovery log in the ADSM Server, the server may not start
correctly, or all mirrored volumes may not be varied online
automatically.

If mirror volumes were defined last, all volumes can be varied
online and synchronized, but when the server is re-started, only
the first 16 volumes vary on-line automatically. The remaining
volumes must be varied online manually with the ADSM VARY ON
command.

If volumes and mirrors are defined in a different order, only
the first 16 will be perceived as valid when the server starts
and the server may fail to start correctly with the following
message: ANR0259E Unable to read complete checkpoint/restart
information from database or recovery log volume.

Please track the following APARs for the fix:

MVS - PN54334 - fixed at level 7
VM - PN54484 - fixed at level 7
OS/2 - IC06973
AIX - IC06975
