ADSM has had some trouble running on NetWare servers with limited memory
resources (ie DSMC.NLM abending). The NetWare Installation guide has
formulas for determining 'How much memory does your file server need?'
based on the number/size of volumes that the NetWare server needs to have
on-line. If, after using these formulas, you find that you are pushing
your RAM limitations on the NetWare server, you may see ADSM having problems.

The formulas, in a nutshell, say something to the effect:

* The total memory required is the sum of the volume memory requirements
  PLUS 2M for the operating system PLUS 2M for ADSM (including TCP/IP or
  APPC) (The 2M for ADSM is our ballpark value)

   - the memory required for a DOS volume is:
     M = .023 X VOLUME SIZE (in MB) / BLOCK SIZE (default is 4)
   - the memory required for a volume with added name space is:
     M = .032 X VOLUME SIZE (in MB) / BLOCK SIZE (default is 4)

Once again, if you determine that your memory requirement is close to
or exceeding your actual RAM, expect to see ADSM have problems .... the
system just does not have enough memory to process ...

A few suggestions:
1) increase the amount of RAM
2) vary some of the larger volumes off-line until more RAM can be obtained.
