IBM's suggestion for restoring an entire NetWare server:

1) make sure you are at the latest level of code, V1 R2 L0.1 (IP20145);
   otherwise, you will run into memory limitations when trying to restore
2) rename the server's NODENAME
   to to match the NODENAME that was backed up. ie, if you backed up
   NetWare server SERV1 and want to restore it to SERV2, code
   NODENAME SERV1 in SERV2's dsm.opt file.
3) restore the BINDERY with : LOAD DSMC RESTORE BINDERY
   if you don't restore the bindery first, your trustee rights will not
   be restored correctly
4) restore each individual volume : LOAD DSMC RESTORE SYS: -SUBDIR=Y -VOLINFO
   The -SUBDIR parameter picks up all of the subdirectories and directory
     trustee rights
   The -VOLINFO parameter picks up the root trustee rights and volume
     restrictions

Happy restoring
