We have decided that backup to disk would be too expensive and are
doing our backups directly to tape. However, the various catalogs
must reside on dasd and for this purpose we have about 500 cylinders of
3380. We are currently using about 2 percent of this space. You should
remember that restores are the exception, not the rule. Speed of restores
should not be that critical. Our largest AIX user (1GIG) takes about
2 hours for a full backup to tape. Nightly incrementals take about 10 minutes.
