- I had a similar problem when I started to use tapes with ADSM. For the mounting of tapes we are using VMTAPE in an exit machine. The VM server asks the exit machine to mount a tape R/W (for writing)

- Ok, we figured out that the write-protect sensor on the tapedrive was faulty. Setting the knob on the tape to write-protected prevents this message from being issued. The problem is that our operator

- If its a VM system you can attach (assign to user) the tape drive in R/O mode ... jaf

- It is, and I tried that... It didn't seem to help... The server STILL rejected the tape because it wasn't write-protected... There's GOT to be some way to make this work better... :-( Thanks Bill
