I think by default nvsniffer is simply a TCP port scanner, tell me if I am wrong. It pings the port to see if it exist, then it adds it to the database. I use it to discover services or applications

First... I'm talking about the NT version. I don't know about the UNIX version. The out-of-the-box function is to only do port-checks. When you startup nvsniffer manually, you can specify the "-r" sw

I don't think this can be done, but I'm not sure. What you could do though... is create a seed-file with the nodes in them, and then set discovery to "seed-file only". It would then only discover the

nvsniffer is not available in UNIX until NetView V5.1. It was available in the NT version at 5.0 If you are a registered IBM/Tivoli customer you should have received your copy of NetView V5.1 by now.
