This is a generic error message that doesn't tell you anything but the obvious, that something killed the session. Can be caused by a network error, or a timeout, or a client problem. Look at the TSM

Hi all - I am receiving the following errors for a Novell Server that failed Backup. TSM backup failed and caused the Novell Server to hang. Novell had to be rebooted to kill hung TSM session. TSM 3.

We had the same problem. With NT clients and we traced the TCP layers of client and server, ADSM server, ADSM client, and network. The problem mysteriously goes away and comes back. Tivoli indicates

I also see this same problem when sites coming in over our WAN are having trouble. Usually its the network coming up and down. As a result I'll have many sessions from the same node. Jack

Marc, The same situation happens in Windows NT 4.0. A quick fix would be to change the CommTimeOut to 3,600 seconds and IdleTimeOut to 60 Minutes. That would ensure that you do not receive a timeout
