The tapes are already labeled with barcode. Is there something special I have to do so that ADSM knows this? I didn't have to do anything with the first tapes. By the way this is ADSM on NT4.0. Rose

ADSM doesn't have to know anything about the barcode - only the robot cares about that. What ADSM needs is for the label to exist on the media itself, which is not the case now. Run dsmlabel. Richar

Do a 'SHOW LIBRARY' to see what ADSM thinks of the current state of the library and its drives. Check the physical state of the drives by visual inspection, operating system query commands, and what

If you have version 3 of the adsm server, you can use the label command from a command line prompt to put an internal label on the tapes, rather than using dsmlabel. Jim Thank you for the information

Checking in tapes in the 3575 is slightly different than checking in a tape on a 3494 library. If you are at v3 you don't have to do the dsmlabel command, you can label your tape and check it in at t

Rose, Did you format the tapes first ? I have the same problem with my MagStar 3570 which uses the same tapeunit drives. If you format the tapes, you can try to use the LABEL LIBV command within ADSM

Johan, I think I have the same library a 3575 with MagStar 3570 drives. I figured out the easiest way to get the tapes labeled is to do it through the wizard (this is on an NT server). I am in the pr
