Quick answer to part of this -- the tsm volser doesn't include the 'L1' so you would use "vol=SU3689" in the restoredb process. I'm not sure about doing a 'dsmserv display dbbackupvolume' -- never tr

I believe that dsmserv display dbbackupvolume makes use of an intact volume history file. I would just run dsmserv restore db devc=tapeclass volume=SU3689L1 and see what happens. Keep in mind that if
