It is done magically. :-) well not really. Reclamation of a tape from an offsite pool when not present is done by referencing the same data that's onsite. (can you say: know-it-all DB?) So reclaming

Offsite reclamation makes a lot of sense, for the same reasons that you reclaim primary pools - to reduce slack, save on tape usage. Remember that offsite tapes are *copy* storage pools, the tapes do

The benefit is the same as for primary pool reclamation - more effective tape usage. And if you look at the description copy pool reclamation works copying data from primary pool which ought to be on
